the shop is open!!

The last 7 months have been one heck of a ride. I personally bit off more than I should have overseeing the build out myself and paid quite dearly for that. But walking into a shop that I had a hand in building most of is a feeling hard to put into words. The only thing I can think of to compare it to is how I feel looking at my daughter; a mixture of deep affection, joy, and accomplishment combined with a sobering realization that what I’m looking at is much bigger than me and something I can’t claim any responsibility for. It also hits me how it’s a miracle we’re open in general, especially looking back on posts we wrote about hoping to open a shop someday. Check this post or this one for an entertaining read. Both were written close to two years ago about hoping to open a shop “soon.” Anyway, finishing the shop when we did 100% would not have been possible without a tremendous amount of indispensable help from a small group of amazing people who we will forever be grateful to. Thank you, sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts.

If you haven’t been to the shop yet, come see us! It’s located at 1520 Wade Hampton Blvd, Greenville, SC 29609. Our team did an incredible job with the color scheme, window graphics, interior design, bar design and aesthetics, wall painting, and more. We also moved the roaster there! Jon and Brandon are both on display a couple days a week for you to watch roast. We think it’s pretty amazing that you can see where the beans you’re getting ready to drink were roasted as you’re ordering. We’ve loved having everything under one roof and can’t wait to reveal more hands on and experiential things. Stay tuned to our Instagram @bridgecitycoffee for more info on that.

where we’re going from here

The blog is going take a different and better format. Up until now it’s been an attempt to chronicle things as they happened leading up to opening a shop. We’ll still have some real time updates. But as we move forward there will be different contributors writing on a variety of topics. Speaking of which, we would love to know if you all want us to write about anything specific. We plan to create educational content on the art of coffee and roasting, provide more info on our partnerships and unique employment model, and anything else related to coffee. If there is something specific you’d like to see, reach out to us on instagram or email greg@bridgecity.coffee.
